Only 10% of Aquilaria trees are naturally infected with the disease that causes them to create oud. Nowadays, however, there are no longer any naturally infected trees. Natural oud is therefore produced by specific Southeast Asian companies that have their own plantations. These companies are highly controlled and must comply with sustainable development rules.
