“A radical, committed and flamboyant perfume” Encelade is another imaginary world of Marc-Antoine Barrois. A mythological dream… the illusion that lava from a volcano has erupted into a lush, benevolent jungle from the underworld; the dizziness of a man who, after having glimpsed the abyss of the Earth, is suddenly illuminated by a new hope, being transported from the world of the night to life. Encelade is inspired by the discovery of Enceladus (written Encelade in French), a natural satellite of Saturn, discovered in 1789. This planet, covered in snow, ice and fresh water but with a heated inner core, gives rise to the idea that one day Enceladus could be covered in green jungle offering a new future, a new planet, a new universe. ENCELADE is also inspired by the mythological figure of Encelade, son of Gaia (the Earth) and Uranus (the Sky), whose strength and power was overthrown by Athena, the adored Goddess of Wisdom and War. Legend says that Encelade is buried under the lands of Sicily and that he still breathes through the fumes and eruptions of the Etna volcano. The mythological figure embodies power, rebellion, character and the satellite instead embodies freshness, softness and purity.
